I've just started the Clifton Chronicles and this is my 3d. When I finished the first I wondered if Archer could keep up the suspense, so I continued and now I'm finished the third, 'Best Kept Secret,' and he not only keeps the suspense going, but adds to each novel and ends with a cliff hanger. I've always been an Archer fan, but was leery about a whole series and questioned whether I'd get bored or whether the characters would lose their appeal or even if the plot would slow up. Well, let me just say that I can't wait for each edition in this marvelous saga of the Clifton and Barrington families. When Archer introduces a new character he/she is just as interesting and well developed as the others. I'm now starting the 4th, 'Be Careful What You Wish For,' and I recommend this series without reservation. The stories range from WWI through the 60s for now, and Archer surrounds the characters with everything exciting and developing in their world. Talk about multigenrational personalities, British politics, international travel -- you've got it in spades! Start the series from Book One to get the backstory of this fascinating saga. Harry finally marries Emma and starts his career as a writer. His best friend Giles has been elected to the House of Commons from Bristol and the house of Lords decided who was the heir of the Barrington estate (Giles). Harry goes on a tour in America to promote his book and Emma tries to find the baby who is technically her half sister from the foster care where she was sent. Giles gets caught up in a General Election which threatens his seat to an arch rival , Alex Fisher.
